Job Scope
The Credit Manager is accountable for the entire credit granting process including the consistent application of a credit policy, periodic credit and collection reviews of existing customers. S/He assesses the creditworthiness of potential customers, minimizes the company's credit risk and optimizes the mix of high company sales with low DSO while preventing bad debts.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Techinal and Operations
- Manage the company's financial wellbeing and ensure compliance, risk management and proper financial reporting
- Oversee the credit and insurance processes to align with business needs and ensure timely action towards facilitating smooth sales and faster recoveries
- Conceptualize a smooth and efficient recovery plan to ensure that all debts are collected in a timely manner and coordinate with the sales and legal departments on credit actions
- Prepare the cash forecast target and achieve the periodic cash collection objective
- Formulate and recommend credit management and trade credit insurance policies and ensure abidance to adopted standards
- Coordinate with the credit insurance company, ensure limits are received on all major partners and maximize the coverage for all customers
- Supervise the credit verification and evaluation processes for new customers as per the company’s policy
- Define, evaluate and approve the credit limit for customers based on their audited financial statements, other asset values and appraisal of new and old customers
- Provide solutions to minimize the risk associated with extraordinary transactions such as special insurance policy/bank facility solutions etc.
- Coordinate frequently with the sales and management teams and conduct credit reviews with the Group Business Units on a regular basis
- Ensure the receipt of balance confirmations pertaining to all customers on a bi-annual basis
- Prepare periodic MIS reports and submit feedback and recommendations to top management
Talent Development
- Lead and coach the team cultivating empowerment and ownership
- Develop capabilities and secure a solid succession plan
- Conduct regular performance reviews, identify training needs and oversee development plans
Position Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or any other related field
Experience
At least 5 to 7 years in a similar role
